What ink should l use for my particular application?

Working with our application support chemistry experts is one way to find the best inks to meet your and your customers' specific application needs. Therefore, the first step in selecting the best ink is to ask you the following questions:

What range of applications do these inks serve?

CYCJET boasts over 20 years of experience in ink and fluid technology, dedicated to developing inks that solve a wide range of challenging applications. Its ink formulations cover industries including aerospace, automotive, beverage, building materials, dairy, fresh and frozen foods, pharmaceuticals, personal care, and wire and cable.

How many different inks does CYCJET have available?

CYCJET boasts a market-leading portfolio of inks. These inks cover all relevant small and large character industrial inkjet technologies. They offer broad performance across color, code durability, environmental conditions, and printer types, and include environmentally friendly alternatives.

How can l get help for my application?

We have a team of experienced application support chemists who excel at finding the best match for our highest quality inks based on our clients' application needs. These professionals will use your product samples to gain a deep understanding of your and your clients' codes and production environments, and then simulate these variables in our application labs to test and validate the best ink products.

How far away from the product can CYCJET continuous inkjet printers print?

For most CYCJET continuous inkjet (CIJ) printers, a distance of 3/16 inch (approximately 4 mm) from the printhead tip to the product is recommended. The closer the printhead is to the product, the smaller the printed characters and the smaller the spacing between ink droplets. When the printhead distance exceeds 3/16 inch, the print height increases, the spacing between ink droplets increases, and the accuracy of droplet placement decreases.

What is the difference between continuous inkjet printing and DoD technologies?

In continuous inkjet (CIJ) printing, ink circulates continuously within the printer, from the fluid system to the printhead and back. In direct inkjet (DOD) technology, ink is only sprayed during printing. This continuous fluid circulation allows CIJ printers to use inks that dry faster, while DOD printers face the problem of ink drying on the printhead.

What are the differences between continuous inkjet printing and contact inkjet coding?

Continuous inkjet printers do not require contact with the product. The optimal distance between the printhead and the product is typically 3/16 inch (approximately 1.6 mm), but clear, legible prints can be obtained even at greater distances. Compared to contact inkjet printers, continuous inkjet printers offer advantages such as the ability to print on curved and irregular surfaces, including bottles and bags.

When is it recommended to use a continuous inkjet printer?

Continuous inkjet printers can print on a wide variety of materials, including plastics, metals, glass, paper, cardboard, corrugated cardboard, and wood. Typical applications include beverage cartons, canned beverages, packaging bags, pharmaceuticals, small cartons, cables, and small parts. Almost any product or packaging that moves on a conveyor belt or extruder is suitable for continuous inkjet printing.
